I’ve been following Liven for a while now. I like the idea—rewarding people for eating out with real value they can use elsewhere. I even tried the app in Melbourne last year and it worked fine in a few venues. But I’m wondering: is this something that can actually grow outside Australia? It feels very localized. Anyone else got thoughts on whether Liven could go global?

I’ve been living in Sydney and using Liven pretty regularly—mostly for Thai and Korean restaurants around Newtown. The rewards system is fun, but what stands out is how deeply it's tied to the local restaurant culture here. That’s both a strength and a weakness. On the one hand, the team clearly understands the Aussie market. On the other hand, that local success doesn’t easily translate to, say, New York or Berlin, where customer behavior and tech competition are entirely different beasts.
From what I read on their Crunchbase page, they’ve raised funding and have ambitious plans, but scaling a loyalty-reward fintech model like this takes way more than capital. You need serious partnerships, cultural fit, and a rollout strategy that doesn’t assume every market works like Melbourne. Still, it’s worth checking their roadmap and some of their latest updates:the liven app
Also, I’d love to hear from someone who's used the app abroad—if that’s even possible yet?
