As someone who loves exploring cities by train, I found the portland amtrak station to be one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had on the West Coast. There’s something incredibly nostalgic about walking into a place that’s both historic and efficient. The red-brick exterior is striking, and the clock tower gives you that old-world travel vibe. Inside, the staff manage everything with quiet confidence — ticketing, luggage handling, and announcements all run smoothly. I particularly liked the clear layout, making it easy for even first-time travelers to find their way. The station is well-lit and feels safe, even in the early morning hours. The nearby area has cafes and convenience stores for snacks before departure. What I loved most was how calm the environment felt — no loud chaos, no endless lines. Just the perfect blend of organization and character. It’s the kind of place that makes you fall back in love with rail travel.
